This wonderfully playful poster was created in 1960 for British Railways, promoting their routes to Paignton in Devon, England. Reading "Torbay's Ideal Holiday Centre, South Devon", the artwork by Tom Eckersley (1914-1996) depicts a minimalist girl holding a beach ball in the summer sun.
The poster was published by British Railways (Western Region) and printed in Great Britain by Charles & Read Ltd. Tom Eckersley was well known for his long collaboration with London Transport, receiving an OBE for service to British poster design in 1948.
