The 2001 French Open was a tennis tournament that took place on the outdoor clay courts at the Stade Roland Garros in Paris, France. The tournament was held from late May until early June. It was the 105th staging of the French Open, and the second Grand Slam tennis event of 2001. Gustavo Kuerten and Jennifer Capriati won the men's and women's singles respectively.
Roland Garros is well known for its stunning posters for each event, hiring notable artists to compose the artworks. This edition was created by Irish artist Sean Scully, best known for his painting, printmaking, sculpting, and photography work, being twice nominated for the Turner Prize.
