Roy Lichtenstein - American Music Festival - New York City Ballet

This stunning rare design was created for the 1988 American Music Festival, celebrating the 40th anniversary of the New York City Ballet. Featuring typically bold colours and thick lines, this is an excellent piece of Pop Art and Roy Lichtenstein history in excellent condition and is instantly recognisable. Roy Lichtenstein was enlisted as one of 11 artists to create artworks to celebrate the anniversary, and the piece was produced courtesy of the Phillip Morris Companies Inc.

Roy Lichtenstein was an American pop artist. During the 1960s, along with Andy Warhol, and Jasper Johns among others, he became a leading figure in the new art movement. His work defined the premise of pop art through parody. Inspired by the comic strip, Lichtenstein produced precise compositions that documented while they parodied, often in a tongue-in-cheek manner.

This beautiful offset lithograph is on thick art stock paper and is in mint condition.
