Featuring his wonderful 1950 artwork "La Danseuse Creole" or "Creole Dancer" created during the "Cut-Out" series, this Henri Matisse poster was created by the French Tourism Office to promote travel to Nice in the South of France. The artwork depicts famous dancer Katherine Dunham who sat for Matisse in his home in France.
Born 1869, Matisse is best known as a French artist, known for both his use of colour and his fluid and original draughtsmanship. He was a draughtsman, printmaker, and sculptor, but is known primarily as a painter. Matisse is commonly regarded as one of the artists who best helped to define the revolutionary developments in the visual arts throughout the opening decades of the twentieth century, responsible for significant developments in painting and sculpture.
A wonderful and extremely rare poster in perfect mint condition, the piece is backed on museum quality linen to preserve it for the years to come.

Unframed posters are shipped to the UK next day courier delivery free of charge. Framed posters can take up to 14 working days for dispatch for the frame to be built and poster to be framed. Frames are packaged and securely padded in a purpose built reinforced cardboard box. Unframed posters are packaged and securely padded in a purpose built reinforced cardboard tube.
International shipping for unframed posters is £25 . International shipping for framed posters is a charge of £125 as a flat rate up to US One-Sheet (27 x 40”) size
