Original lithograph poster of Henri Matisse's painting Le Luxe I, from the Pompidou Centre in Paris. From 1984, this fantastic poster is printed on medium stock paper and was printed in France. Le Luxe I was painted by Matisse in 1907, and this poster was promoting it as part of the Pompidou's permanent collection.
Born 1869, Matisse is best known as a French artist, known for both his use of colour and his fluid and original draughtsmanship. He was a draughtsman, printmaker, and sculptor, but is known primarily as a painter. Matisse is commonly regarded as one of the artists who best helped to define the revolutionary developments in the visual arts throughout the opening decades of the twentieth century, responsible for significant developments in painting and sculpture.
